What is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is as it professes, a religion that is centered around Jesus Christ.

The church professes to believe in a pre-existence before we came to this terrestrial world, in which we all lived with our spiritual Heavenly Father (God). We are his spiritual sons and daughters and we have a gender that is a divine characteristic of each one of us. The family is a sacred part of God’s plan for us and we have the opportunity to live with our families in relationships and emotional bonds in this life and the next.

Through baptism by immersion, we have the opportunity to become a member of God’s church. We believe that Jesus Christ is the literal son of our Heavenly Father and that he atoned for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane and a Cross of Calvary. Then on the third day, he rose from the dead from the grave, evoking the timeless response, “Master!”.

We believe that God has called a Prophet today upon the Earth, even Russell M. Nelson. President Nelson presides over the First Presidency, which is made up of two counselors, Presidents Dallin H. Oaks and Henry B. Eyring. Then, there is a Quorum of the Twelve, with Acting Pres. M. Russell Ballard at its head.

We also believe in personal revelation through prayer to our Heavenly Father and that the Holy Bible AND the Book of Mormon stand side by side in proclaiming the divinity of Jesus Christ.
