Five Worst Treaties in Modern History

In the reaches of history, few documents hold a candlelight to the great bonfire of diplomacy. Many documents, though of international importance, often become the deliberate target of their own governments. However, how much power do these documents truly possess? Can they create a magical force to make their statutes compulsory? No, especially not in the United States!

In the case of our world, the most debased category of documents can be found in diplomatic treaties, the nourishment of our international procrastination.

For example, the Native American tribes created approximately more than 500 treaties with the United States’ government. However, each of those treaties were either, to quote author Helen Oliff, “broken, changed or nullified when it served the [U.S.] government's interests”.

Many more examples can be found and will be presented in the following five articles, where the worst treaties in the world history, many of them forgotten, will once more be placed in public knowledge.
