67 years ago- Elizabeth II of the House of Windsor was coronated on February 6, 1952, becoming the fourth long-term Queen of England. Her coronated was the first televised coronation in modern history, allowing all of her subjects and other TV watchers around the world to adore her at first regal sight. However, such a regal term as queen of England has not come without great tragedies. Elizabeth has been obligated to lead her people through thirteen separate conflicts, starting with the Korean War, which was occuring during her coronation. She has also lived to see the deaths of her aunt Mary (1897-1965), uncles Edward (1894-1972), Henry (1900-1974), and George (1902-1942), father George VI (1895-1952), and mother Elizabeth (1900-2002). In contrast, she has had a firm marriage with her husband, Prince Philip (1921-present), and a good relationship with her children, which include: Prince Charles (1943-present), Princess Anne (1950-present), Prince Andrew (1960-present), and Prince Edward (1964-present). These family relationship are, on occasion, shrouded with controversy and lead to further family divisions. Elizabeth is also in current controversy over use of taxes, not for the public good, but instead for personal grandeur or travel.
