The President of the Quorum of the Twelve

The President of the Quorum of the Twelve is the second-most senior Apostle in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and presides over the Quorum of the Twelve. However, if the President of the Quorum is a member of the First Presidency, the most senior apostle actively serving in the Quorum of the Twelve becomes the Acting President of that Quorum. For example, Dallin Harris Oaks is currently the President of the Quorum of the Twelve, as he was ordained an Apostle in 1984. However, since he is the First Counselor in the First Presidency, M. Russell Ballard, having been ordained in 1985, acts as the Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve.
